In the liner notes to his album Music For Airports, Brian Eno wrote about ambient music that "it must be as ignorable as it is interesting."
In a similar vein I present to you Patterns in a Familiar Room, an album I've worked on piece by piece for two years. I often listen to instrumental music while working, cooking, waking up, relaxing...and continuously seek music that will serve as background but keep me moving. The nine instrumentals and one vocal track (begun as an instrumental) on this album aim to do just that: keep your brain and body moving, maybe nudge it in a positive direction, and be more of a partner than an intruder.
One additional note: in the process of deciding if this music wanted to be an album, I asked some great singer friends to listen and see if a vocal melody made itself known to them. Several have responded, and I'll be sharing those soon.
